From November 2013 onwards, the SEAT Altea and SEAT Altea XL will only be available in ‘I TECH’ trim, which packs the models full of equipment.
For the same price as the outgoing ‘Copa SE’ specification, the ‘I TECH’ trim provides the family car with 16-inch titanium-finish alloy wheels, a colour TFT screen for rear passengers, front parking sensors and forward sliding rear seats.
Due to SEAT simplifying the Altea and Altea XL model ranges, each version now comprise one trim level and three powertrain options.
Customers will be able to choose from the following engines: a 104bhp 1.6-litre TDI Ecomotive diesel unit, the same engine with a DSG automatic transmission and a 138bhp 2.0-litre TDI diesel powerplant.
As well as the aforementioned kit, Altea and Altea XL models now also come with dual-zone climate control, SEAT Media System 2.2 (including sat-nav and Bluetooth), automatic wipers and headlights, roof rails, rear parking sensors, dark tinted rear windows, a double floor boot and overhead interior storage.
SEAT has also introduced two new colours to the Altea and Altea XL range: ‘Bahama Blue’ and ‘Technic Grey’.
Steve Mirfin, SEAT Product Manager, commented: “With the Altea ‘I TECH’ models we’re giving the customer great value and a simplified choice.
“We’re also reflecting buyer preference – over the last year, more than nine of ten Altea models sold were specified in ‘SE Copa’ trim, on which the enhanced ‘I TECH’ is based."
Prices for the SEAT Altea range start at £19,345 for the Altea ‘I TECH’ 1.6 TDI 104bhp Ecomotive, while the DSG version costs from £20,215 and the 2.0 TDI 138bhp from £20,145.
In terms of the SEAT Altea XL version, prices stand at £20,065 for the 1.6 TDI Ecomotive, £20,935 for the DSG variant and £20,865 for the 2.0 TDI model.
Fuel economy across the SEAT Altea and Altea XL model line-up is excellent, with combined fuel economy ranging from 57.6mpg to a more frugal 62.8mpg.
Both models also offer excellent boot space, with the Altea providing 409-litres of space while the longer, slightly taller Altea XL comes with a substantial 532-litre boot.
SEAT is replacing its ‘Copa’ trim level for its Altea and Altea XL models with a new ‘I TECH’ edition – a trim that adds even more equipment and luxury.
The Altea and Altea XL models already have a reputation for being well equipped for the road. The new ‘I TECH’ trim, however, will ensure that the Altea model enters a whole new era when it comes to in-car kit.
In terms of new additions, the ‘I TECH’ trim adds 16-inch alloy wheels, front parking sensors and a colour TFT screen for rear passengers.
These new additions go alongside a long list of equipment already fitted to the Altea model, including the SEAT Media System 2.2 (which incorporates Bluetooth and sat-nav), rear parking sensors, roof rails and dark tinted rear windows.
Alongside these new features are also two new paint jobs, which are ‘Bahama Blue’ and ‘Technic Grey’.
On top of its new generous ‘I TECH’ trim level, both the SEAT Altea and Altea XL will continue to offer practicality and a range of efficient engines – credentials that are key to any MPV.
When it comes to storage space, the Altea offers a large 409-litre boot, while the slightly taller Altea XL model manages to offer a substantial 535-litre boot.
Engine wise, the Altea range comes available with a range of efficient diesels, including a 1.6-litre TDI Ecomotive unit that produces 104bhp and a 2.0-litre TDI unit producing 138bhp.
Fuel economy is very impressive in the Altea range as it can return a combined 62.8mpg and keep CO2 emissions as low as 119g/km.
With this low CO2 figure, the SEAT Altea carries a low BIK taxation rate of just 18 per cent for 2013/2014.
Steve Mirfin, SEAT Product Manager, said, “With the Altea ‘I TECH’ models we’re giving the customer great value and a simplified choice. We’re also reflecting buyer preference – over the last year, more than nine of ten Altea models sold were specified in ‘SE Copa’ trim, on which the enhanced ‘I TECH’ is based."
