Đây được coi là tuyến đầu trong cuộc chiến tranh giành thị trường card đồ họa chơi game chuyên dụng. AMD Radeon R9 270X chính là sản phẩm của AMD nhằm vào phân khúc này. Cả AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition và Radeon R9 270X đều được trang bị GPU Pitcairn, vì vậy Radeon R9 270X giống như một sản phẩm tái thương hiệu của AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition với tốc độ xung nhịp cao hơn và hệ thống làm mát GPU được cải thiện. Sapphire Toxic R9 270X 2GB có giá bán lẻ đề xuất là 239$, cao hơn 40$ so với mô hình nguyên mẫu.
