_ELECTROTHERAPY TO THE Nth POWER
Electrotherapy benefits from the biological effects
obtained from the electric power for a therapeutic
use. Current is directed into the involved body part
having selected it with suitable features to reach the
specific objectives.
Electrotherapy is used to stimulate the denervated
muscle, to reduce the hypotrophy caused by not using
the normally innervated muscle, to maintain the muscular trophism in the denervated or partially innervated
muscle and to strengthen the innervated muscle.
The main effects of applying the current to a body
tissue are the excitomotor, thermic, trophic, analgesic and chemical effects.
